Epping Forest Burglary-Jewelry Heist

Sometime between Saturday, Jan. 25th at 11:53 am and Sunday, Jan. 26th at 12:45 pm, and unknown suspect committed a residential burglary at the Epping Forest home. During the burglary the unknown suspects removed almost $300,000 worth of diamonds, gold, Rolex watches and high end jewelry. Attached are some photos of the jewelry that was stolen.

Kollin Felton Gunned Down in Lackawanna Neighborhood
January 10, 2020

An altercation Thursday, Jan 9th, afternoon between a motorcyclist and someone in a pickup truck near the intersection of Edison Avenue and Cherokee Street escalated to gunfire and a man in his 20s was killed, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. A family member identified the man as Kollin Felton, 26.

Officers responding to a shots-fired call at 1:24 p.m. found the victim with multiple gunshot wounds in a commercial area near McCoy’s Creek.

Police said the man was being chased by the driver of a black Ram pickup truck, which sped away from the scene. Investigators said it appears more than 15 shots were fired at the victim. According to police, the truck appeared to have a large white sticker on the back window (photo at end of article).

Surveillance video obtained by News4Jax appears to show Felton riding his motorcycle down Edison Avenue, then turning onto Cherokee Boulevard, and a black pickup is following him. No shots can be seen fired, but it appears Felton’s motorcycle goes down, and the pickup truck stops for several seconds before driving away.

Kidnapping Suspect Sought

Kidnapping Suspect Sought

 

A kidnapping was recently reported in the area of 400 Ashley Street West. During the reported incident, the suspect made threats of sexual violence towards the victim, who was able to escape and contact law enforcement.

 

In another recent incident, an attempted sexual battery and robbery were reported in the area of 400 6th Street West.

 

In both incidents, the victims were homeless females and provided a similar suspect description. At this time, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office believes that these incidents may be related and we are requesting the community’s assistance in identifying the suspect depicted in this sketch.

 

The suspect has been described as a lighter complexion black male with a slender build, approximately 6’, and between 40 and 60 years old.

Double Murder at Arabian Court Apartment
December 27, 2019

On Friday, December 6th, two people were shot and killed at an apartment complex on Arabian Court off Atlantic Boulevard, just west of Southside Boulevard, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. The victims were identified as  Gabriel Taveras, 23, and Jordan Phelps, 24.

Calls began coming into the newsroom about gunfire in the area at 10:45 p.m. An hour later, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office confirmed that homicide detectives were investigating at a shooting at the apartment complex.

Body Found on Side of Oceanway Road
December 26, 2019

Dec. 25th, 2019, A bicyclist discovered a man’s body on the side of an Oceanway road on Christmas Day, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.  The body of a 20 to 30-year-old Hispanic male was found around noon Wednesday at the end of Cole Road.  

Investigators said the man was pronounced dead upon arrival and foul play is suspected due to signs of trauma.

While investigators believe the body had been on the side of the road for at least 12 hours before it was discovered, they are still trying to figure out if the victim was killed somewhere else and his body was dropped off at this location.

Body Found inside Burnt SUV
December 26, 2019

A body was found Monday, Dec. 23rd, in the evening at the scene of a vehicle fire on Jacksonville’s Northside, authorities said.
 
Fire crews answering a call about a vehicle fire near Sisson Drive and Main Street about 7:30 p.m. found a Ford sport-utility vehicle engulfed in flames, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. Crews discovered a body inside the vehicle once the fire was out.

Homicide investigators are awaiting an autopsy to determine the cause of death. Though police have yet to positively identify the person inside the SUV, multiple people who visited the scene Tuesday said they fear the remains belong to 37-year-old Andre James.

Two Teens Shot in College Park Neighborhood
November 14, 2019

On Monday, Nov.11th, a First Coast High School student, Cordell Williams was gunned down while on his way to a fast-food restaurant in Jacksonville’s College Gardens neighborhood. The shooting occurred at Kings Rd and Spires Ave. in the College Park neighborhood. Another teen was also shot and is in critical condition at the hospital.
 
The double shooting happened about 8 p.m. on Kings Road near the intersection of Spires Avenue. The crime scene spanned three to four blocks.

A weapon was recovered, investigators said.A couple told News4Jax that they were on their front porch when they heard rounds of gunfire.

Quinton Cruell Killed by Hit & Run Driver
November 06, 2019

On August 17th, 2019,  Police responded to 5th and Barnett in referecne to a pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle.  Police are looking for a vehicle that struck a pedestrian just after 1 a.m. Saturday morning and left the scene. The victim was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.  Quinton DeShawn Cruell died from his injuries. 

Traffic homicide detectives investigating the crash were looking for witnesses or surveillance video and crime scene officers gathered evidence.
