Elderly man found dead in Westside Home. Son found dad dead in home; Police suspect foul play.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff`s Office, on Wednesday, July 18th, about 6:20am, George Davis` son went to the home in the 700 block of St. Clair Street and found his dad unresponsive. Rescue personnel pronounced Davis dead.  Police said Davis`s cause of death was blunt force trauma.  Investigators said there did not appear to be forced entry into the house.

SOLVED BY A CRIME STOPPER TIP

On Sunday, June 11, 2012 at 9:30 p.m. it was determined that a shooting occurred at 1001 N. University Blvd.  

Investigation revealed an unknown suspect shot into a vehicle the victim (Marvette Littles) was sitting in.  The victim arrived at Shands and subsequently died from her injuries.

Detectives are currently trying to identify the woman in the attached photos.  The woman was described to police as a woman dressed up as a man and may walk with a slight limp.

$750 Reward Offered - Cat Mutilation in Orange Park

A $750 reward is now being offered for information that leads to the arrest of whoever mutilated three kittens. The cats` remains were discovered Saturday night behind the Holly Cove Apartments on Wells Road in Orange Park.

Investigators believe it was not something done by a wild animal, but a crime committed by a person or persons.

The Clay County Sheriff`s Office said when reward money is being offered, it gets people talking. And that`s what investigators want so they to find out who`s responsible and why the crimes were committed. The latter has neighbors on edge.

"Violence is all around us, and this could be a stepping stone to something more violent," Holly Cove resident Chariti Sloane said. "If someone is going to dehumanize a cat, what is the next step? The next step would be a larger animal, like a dog. Who is to say it won`t be a child?"

Crime Stoppers is offering a $4,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the shooting death of a 29-year-old man last month. Bernard Cason was shot and killed while inside a white Dodge Charger the night of March 11 during the filming of a music video on Washington Estates Drive at Soutel Drive in Northwest Jacksonville. Two others were also shot but survived. Police said more than 150 people were at the scene when the shooting happened, and they said someone had to have seen who fired the shots. Animal Abuse - Reward up to $1,881

Through several private donations, the reward is now at $1,881 including the $1,000 from First Coast Crime Stoppers.

Parker is a golden retriever who disappeared from the back yard of his residence (1833 Kings Ct) sometime between 8:30 and 11:30 pm on July 4^th.   Parker did not have a history of running away from his home and he was extremely friendly.  Two weeks later, Parker’s remains were found wrapped in a tarp and tied to cinder blocks in the creek off of Nightfall Drive (two blocks north of his home).  Parker’s owners, Kevin and Brenda Brown are devastated and have no idea who could have done this. Parker`s death has been determined to be an act of animal cruelty.

Enhanced Reward $3,700 Offered in Jacksonville Beach Homicide

Jacksonville Beach Police announce an enhanced reward of $3700 (in addition to the Crime Stopper reward), in the homicide case of Roderick Batts two years ago at a Waffle House off Beach Blvd.

On May 18, 2009, officers in Jacksonville Beach responded to the fatal shooting of Roderick Batts, who died in the parking lot outside the restaurant. Police said it did not appear to be a robbery, but didn`t release much more than that.ime of the shooting the victim was inside the restaurant. He walked out to the parking lot and that`s when Bingham said someone shot him several times.

There were about 10 people in the Waffle House restaurant at the time of the shooting. Witnesses said they heard gunshots that sounded like they came from a pop gun, and took cover and got on the floor.

Bingham said witnesses told officers two suspects ran across the street and got into a dark colored 4-door Sedan, possibly a Buick, the headed west on Beach Boulevard.

Kelly Chapple Reward up to $3,000

Judith Chapple thought her three children were safe from crime growing up in a gated community in Orange Park.

"I thought I was doing everything right. I thought my children were safe."

But it was when her 23-year-old daughter stepped outside the gate, that she was murdered.

Kelly Chapple was shot to death at the Palisades Apartments, 5800 University Blvd. on September 7th, 2008. Her killer has not been caught.

Judith is now on a quest to make sure no other parent has to go through the same pain.

"Losing a child is something that is unimaginable," Judith told First Coast News. "I don`t know a day that I`m not crying. I don`t know a day that I`m not devastated over her loss."

Fern Gorin, 74, was severely bruised after she was robbed, beaten and carjacked in an Arby`s drive-thru the day after Thanksgiving.

She had just given her order at the Arby`s on 5660 Beach Boulevard near University when a man popped up in her window and yelled at her to get over. She tried to drive off but he grabbed her around the throat and shoved the car into park.

The suspect punched her, then drove her to Englewood Baptist Church at 5675 Kennerly Road. The victim got out, then walked to a neighbor`s house to call police. Arby`s is offering an additional $5,000 to the $3,000 First Coast Crime Stopper reward for information leading to the arrest of the suspect.
